Why will people sit at their television playing Nintendo’s Super Mario … and lose track of time altogether? Why do brands put so much emphasis on storytelling … but see little engagement and high bounce rates? Rebecca will explore the design of these experiences and discuss methods of immersion that you can use to increase user interaction and engagement with your brand story.


Rebecca is a human-centered design strategist with a degree in Digital Humanities and a Masters in Digital Experience Innovation. Leveraging her skills in design thinking, data analysis, and interaction design, Rebecca has helped clients including Kijiji, Equifax, GE, Broadridge Financial, and Teradata develop innovation strategies and customer experiences that are grounded in deep user insight. Rebecca is a professor in Emerging Technologies and Immersive Experiences at the School of Media and Design and is a regular guest speaker at Wilfred Laurier, The University of Waterloo, and Seneca College
